Request For Invitation (RFI) Procedure Guide

  1. Read Notice and Conditions of Race.

  2. Read the Chicago Mackinac Safety Regulations (CMSR) appropriate to your boat (Monohull / Multihull).

  3. For your own benefit complete the Seamanship & Safety Skills Checklist. This document will assist you in assessing whether or not you and your crew have the necessary skills and experiences to compete in a Category II offshore race.

  4. Complete the electronic Request For Information form.
    1. All fields marked with an asterisk must be complete before the form will be accepted into the system. Lengths should be expressed in decimal feet (i.e. 37.75) - Numbers and decimals only - do not include "feet, ft".

    2. Yacht Type is generally the Model and length as described on your rating certificate i.e. J105, Beneteau 36.7, Catalina 400 WK).

    The details you submit regarding the experience of you and your planned crew are critical to the decisions of the Selections Committee. Please be as accurate and complete as possible.

  5. After submitting your RFI, you will receive an on-screen and emailed RFI receipt confirmation.

  6. The Selection Committee will review your RFI information and either contact if they have questions or issue you your invitation via email. You should normally expect a Selections Committee decision within three weeks of a satisfactorily completed RFI.
