ONBOARD REPORTING FOR THE #CYCRTM
We’re excited to share onboard updates during the 110th Chicago Yacht Club Race to Mackinac with fans ashore and we need your help! Please use these guidelines during your race when sending back content to be used on race reporting. Adhering to these guidelines will help ensure your story reaches as many people as possible!
WHEN TO SEND:
Aim to send two race reports daily, if possible
Send when close to shore, if your mobile phone is in data range
Send throughout the race, if your boat is equipped with satellite comms or YB "Tweet" Tracker (only certain boats have this capability - we will tell you at registration if yours is enabled for this)
WHAT TO SEND:
Include: Please remember to always include boat name, location, and hashtag #CYCRTM in all text content you send off the boat.
Text Updates: Written stories of the race describing conditions, position updates relative to section, and general race reports are great! The more personality the better. Because text is faster than photos to send, we recommend sending text and limiting photos. Text Tweets can be sent via cell phone when in data range, via satellite if so enabled, and via YB Tracking for the boats that are Tweet enabled. Please keep to 100 words or less.
Photography: Please send photos of significant race landmarks (Point Betsie, Sleeping Bear Dunes, Mackinac Bridge, etc.) as well as photos of the cockpit/foredeck of the team racing and life on board. Remember, take photos at sunrise/sunset for best light! When sending photos, please keep the image size under 300kb for optimal transfer speed; most email programs allow you to send them as "small" or "medium" size. Photo Tweets can be sent via cell phone when in data range.
HOW TO SEND:
Thanks for helping us tell the story of #AmericasOffshoreChallenge to our friends, families and fans around the world!
