Hi folks, The Short Version... 39 YO, 5'8 145 lbs Light but not weak Mast, Pit, Bow and Trim Over 15K miles offshore sailing my own boat (NY - New Zealand) Safety inspector for 2014 Annapolis to Bermuda 100 Ton Masters License with Sail and Towing endorsements Author of "Category 1 Preparation" Sailing App The Longer Story... Experienced offshore 100 Ton Captain. I sailed my Cascade 36 halfway around the world from New York to New Zealand with my wife as crew. I race weekly on a Cape Fear 38 and a J120 in Annapolis. In New Zealand I raced on Young 88s, a Viper sportboat, and a Farrier Trimaran. Still learning to sail fast. I am lucky enough to be surrounded by people who know a lot. I did the Annapolis to Bermuda Race this past summer on the J120 and also was a safety inspector for the race. We won line honors (first to Bermuda) as well as our class (PHRF 1). No I did not inspect my own boat. I wish I could say it was all me, but the crew was a bunch of rock stars. Have done a couple of other distance races as well. I currently live in Annapolis but can come up to you for the race at the drop of a hat. I am versatile, good offshore and do not get seasick. I can do all the cooking if you like. My years of cruising mean I can fix pretty much anything on the boat. I am still learning to be a racing sailor and I enjoy all the fine details of making a boat go as fast as possible. I can work the bow on a boat with a bowspirit/prod but am no longer proficient with a spin pole (it has been a while). Not a rockstar, just a guy looking to keep learning and do as many big races as I can. Most importantly, I keep my yap shut, I use my ears, and I try my best to anticipate the next move. Please E-mail or call me if you need one more guy. Thanks! 202-741-5092

Hello, I am an experienced sailor with bluewater offshore sailing experience and about 10k miles in my log book. My most recent race was a very fast run from Cape Town, South Africa to western Australia (5k miles) in the fall of 2013. I would like to crew in the 2015 race on a larger boat that has good speed. I have a soft spot for wooden yachts, but also truly enjoy modern designs as well. Regarding my experience, I am Level 1, 2 & 3 certified Clipper Round the World racer, and I also have my ASA Keel Boat & Coastal Cruising certifications (soon to have bareboat charter as well). I am a motivated, team oriented crew member with high tech skills, enjoys cooking and would love to serve for a skipper who has a strong passion for yacht racing and truly appreciates the history of this race and the sport of yacht racing. I live a few hours from the region and can also travel for training event dates as needed. If you're looking for a game plan to improve your race, I can certainly lend a hand. Fair winds, Joseph

As of 08/14/14, I have been learning how to sail mostly on Colgate 26's, at the helm, trimming jib, etc. Starting to get into Wednesday racing nights, flying spinnaker, etc. I am getting to the point where I am confident with how sailing works, there is always something new to learn, but I think I have a good grasp of the basics. I want to get into more competitive sailing in order to get a fuller experience, the difficulties of it. I have clicked all positions because I am willing to learn as much as I can.
