2024 Mac Race Competitors: A Message from the Chairman

It’s incredible to me that it’s almost July and the Chicago Yacht Club Race To Mackinac presented by Wintrust is three weeks away. I can’t tell you all how excited we are to host you all for the Race.

I write you all with 4 updates:

Safety: As always, the Race To Mackinac Committee's top priority continues to be our competitors' safety.  To help crews prepare, CYC and the Race To Mackinac Committee are hosting two AIS MOB Drills in conjunction with the US Coast Guard.  Join us to learn how the mandatory AIS MOB devices interact with your vessel’s MFD or chart plotter and VHF radios. We will be conducting drills near Monroe Station on June 26th, and June 29th.  For more information and to register your vessel for one of these drills, follow this link.

First-Timers Brunch: There are still a few tickets left for the First-Timers Brunch. It will be held at Mission Point on Tuesday, July 16, at 11 AM. Anyone is welcome to the brunch—you don’t have to be a first timer to attend! You can come celebrate any crew who has just raced their first Mac Race! Or even just come to get a great meal on Tuesday morning when the restaurants are packed! Sign up for the brunch hereusing code FIRST2024. Please note you CANNOT get tickets at the door, and, again, tickets are limited so please sign up now! If you have any questions about first-timer events, including the brunch, please email us at noobies@cycracetomackinac.com.

Porch Party: Tickets are going fast for the Porch Party. This can’t-miss event takes place from 5:30 PM-7:30 PM on Sunday, July 14 at the Grand Hotel. It includes an open bar and hors d’ouevres. Come see every dressed up to the nines as we kick off the Race activities on Mackinac Island.

The Team Challenge Trophy: Sign up with your friends, or even rivals, for a chance at the Point Betsie Trophy. The entry form is now available on the official notice board.

As always, if you have any questions, please write regattamanager@cycracetomackinac.com and we’ll get back to you as quickly as we can.

Thanks,
