Registration for the 115th Chicago Yacht Club Race to Mackinac opens February 1st

Posted Jan 29, 2024

At noon (12:00 p.m. CST) on Thursday, February 1, automatic invitations for the 115th CYC Race to Mackinac presented by Wintrust will be sent out and invited competitors will be able to register their entry. Remember that your docking preference for Mackinac Island, St. Ignace, or Straits State Harbor are honored as best as possible according to entry and payment order, so enter soon!

Not an invited competitor? No problem.

The request for invitation process will open at the same time February 1st. At that time, if you wish to enter the Mac Race and did not receive an automatic invitation, please visit cycrtm.com, create an account, and then request an invitation with some basic information about your entry that our selections committee will review.

As you plan your entry, there are several upcoming seminars available to help you with the ratings process. Chicago Yacht Club will be hosting an ORC seminar on Saturday, February 24th at Monroe Station. Also, a webinar series will be co-hosted by CYC, NYYC, and the Storm Trysail Club beginning Thursday, February 1st.

These seminars will focus on several topics including:

  • Steps to getting an ORC rating
  • Measurement 101
  • Should you get your boat measured and how
  • One design & re-measurement topics
  • Basics of the Velocity Prediction Program
  • Meet with US Sailing ORC officials

Our hope is to help educate on one of the most frequently asked questions regarding race entry – how to obtain your boat's ORC rating. We encourage you to invite friends to join who are considering entering the Mac Race for the first time.

Remember to set your reminders for February 1st at noon CST!
