Race Update: February 16, 2021

Racers,

2021 holds much promise for us as we plan for the 112th running of the greatest freshwater distance race in the world, the Chicago Yacht Club Race to Mackinac™ presented by Wintrust. As we take a pragmatic approach to our committee’s planning efforts, I look forward to racing with you in July!

On February 1st, we opened registration. Returning skippers who have competed in one of the last four “Mac” Races, will have received an invitation. Over 125 invited competitors have registered to date. For those of you entering a new boat in the race, you may start the process of requesting an invitation via the regatta website.

If you are a skipper who has raced, but not in 5 years or more, we expect that your information will still be in our registration system. Please login on the CYCRTM website using your credentials and then request an invitation to begin this process.

We will be scoring this year’s race using the ORC rating rule.  If you missed the ORC webinar hosted by the CYCRTM Committee in January, you can watch here (click here), it provides a wealth of information on making the transfer to ORC.  For other information, or to transfer your ORR measurements to ORC via the US Sailing Offshore office  please visit this link: ORR to ORC Transfer.

On behalf of all of us at the Chicago Yacht Club and its Race to Mackinac Committee, thank you for joining us for the race of the season, a destination like no other, the adventure of a lifetime!
